2/9/13

I've noticed that a lot of my "good things" seem to involve stuff. That's not what I originally intended. But at the same time, since I've been sick and tired, I don't have a whole lot in the way of accomplishments. I need to work on that. Anyway, on to the good things...

I installed the new webcam and wireless adapter my brother got me for Christmas. I don't know if the adapter is going to fix any of the problems I've been having with network speed, but the webcam is a definite improvement.

Comcast showed up today to troubleshoot our TV issues. I also talked a little about the poor internet speeds (usually around 12 Mb/s, sometimes as low as 0.2 Mb/s). He seemed to think the whole problem was with my old RF converter, but I doubt that. Regardless, he said there was some kind of voltage running back through the splitter in the basement, which is a bad thing. He ended up trading out several of the splitters in the house, disconnected the cable through the rest of the house (we're not currently using it anyway), gave me new coaxial cables, and some composite cable. The composite cables allowed me to get rid of the RF converter and keep all of our components hooked up. Now the TV doesn't freeze and I'm getting about 17 Mb/s.

Also, more gaming tonight. Skyping in since I'm still sick.
